How often per round can the ability of a pet/Artifact be used? Is there a differentiation between abilities whether they are once per round or “Passive” buffs and how to differentiate?
The rulebook clearly states that items and pets can only be activated once per turn. If it is a passive ability it is considered “always on” and does not need to be activated. If something does something like exploring or placing a token that is an activation. If it says “Ignore walls” then its passive.
How does drop work? I simply have to be adjacent to the drop zone?
You must land on the drop zone in order to drop collectibles to qualify for “dropping it off” in a scenario. If you are just dropping a collectible on the ground because you don’t wish to carry it anymore it can be placed on any adjacent space that you can reach, including diagonally. If you are not standing on a wall yourself you cannot drop something onto a wall.
Can I drop things I’m carrying (maybe to have a free slot to steal from someone)? And if, can I do that any time during my turn or what are the limitations?
You can drop things at any time (including during movement) in order to make room for stealing. The general rule (in most scenarios) is that you can only carry 2 collectibles at a time.
I am a little confused about stealing… Can I steal a crystal before I move if the person is adjacent to me? And that I understand because I steal it and then run away with it. But say I run to someone and end up next to them. Then I steal a crystal from them. Does that mean before they move they simply steal it back from me? (In which case, what was the point of stealing from him?)
As the rulebook state on pg 8 (black box) you can steal from anyone adjacent at ANY point in your movement. So you can do both of what you described or even steal mid-move. Obviously running away after stealing is a advantage. If you dont have movement left over for this some abilities/cards (atleast one that i’ve seen but there may be more) also allows you to perform a extra dash after stealing (or use a DASH 1 potion in phase 3).
Can I activate a power that requires discarding a card after Phase 4 where I’ve drawn cards?
No. You must discard the card(s) before you are allowed to activate the ability. Also you may only use powers / cards during Phase 1 or 3 of your own turn. Once you’ve drawn cards in Phase 4 your turn is officially over.
What exactly can be stolen? In the rules it says you can’t steal cards, but then there are cards that let you steal items or pets. Are those exceptions or are items and pets played beside your board aren’t considered “cards” for the time being until they are back in your hand? Apart from that I assume unless specificed in the scenario, everything but cards are considered things that can be stolen?
The steal effect refers specifically to stealing carried collectibles ONLY. This means crystals, sheep etc. Cards in-hand cannot be stolen except through the use of cards or abilities that specifically target cards in hand. Cards like rune of finding specifically allow stealing of items in pets IN PLAY from a specific range.
One of the scenarios calls for 3 explore tokens but I only have 2. Am I missing a token?
No. This is a misprint. Other players have simply substituted other tokens. Have fun with it and get creative!
You need to “drop” all collectibles on nearest stable square. Are these items “pick-up-able” by anyone, perhaps in the explore mode? Or can they be “stolen” in the usual way, even though they are not in a player’s possession? If there is no way to recover these items, are they not effectively discarded, and shouldn’t they be removed from the board?
If something is sitting on the board it can be picked up as usual and is no longer considered as being held by any player.
If you can place a spring or tunnel within a range, can I count the range directly through a wall or do you have to count around it? What about teleporting?
You may count any space while counting range. For Beam Walls you must count around them.
